St. Celestine School
St. Celestine Catholic School is the elementary school of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago's Saint Celestine Parish in Elmwood Park, Illinois. The parish was founded in 1929 by Father Francis T. Shea during the tenure of George Cardinal Mundelein, Archbishop of Chicago from 1915 to 1939. The school opened its doors in temporary accommodations on October 1st, 1936, with 91 children enrolled in the first four grades. Father O'Donnell arrived at the parish in 1945 and under his leadership the cornerstone of the school building that the graduating class of 1961 knew was laid on June 8th, 1947, the year most of us were born.
